WHO WE ARE

Little Sons of the Eucharist is a Public Association of the Faithful (with the intention of becoming a Religious Congregation) which is canonically established in the Diocese of Buea, South West Region, Cameroon by His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Immanuel Bushu, Catholic Bishop of Buea. It was founded by a humble and pious Catholic lay woman, Mrs. Angela Ogoamaka Ugwuka, from Neni in Awka Diocese and a parishioner at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha Anambra State, Nigeria.

The Generalate and Novitiate House of the Little Sons of the Eucharist are located in the town of Tole Camp, Buea while the Postulate House is in Mile 17, Bomaka, all in Buea Diocese, South West Region, Cameroon.
The governance of the Association rests on its dynamic and hardworking General Council under the supervision of the Local Ordinary of Buea Diocese. Currently, the Association of the Little Sons of the Eucharist has among its members twenty-one finally professed which includes seven priests and six deacons, fourteen temporary professed as well as a good number of non-professed members who are still in different stages of formation. Seminarians of this Association receive seminary formation at the National Missionary Seminary of St. Paul, Abuja which belongs to the Missionary Society of Paul (MSP) and at the Dominican Institute, Ibadan which belongs to the Dominican Order, Province of St. Joseph the Worker, Nigeria and Ghana.

OUR SPIRITUALITY

The spirituality of the Little Sons of the Eucharist is essentially Eucharistic: In union with Mary, we Adore the Eucharist, Live the Eucharist and Reveal to others Jesus in the Eucharist.

  1. Adore the Eucharist: As we receive Christ in the Holy Communion and contemplate Him in silent adoration, we gradually become totally consumed in Him. We become one with Him.
  2. Live the Eucharist: Christ becomes incarnate in us and manifests Himself through us in many ways but in particular through works of charity to the poor.
  3. Reveal to others Jesus in the Eucharist: Christ who incarnates in us becomes the source, motivation and ultimate end of our work as we move about teaching and evangelizing at the grassroots the mysteries of our faith.
OUR CHARISM

We give ourselves in a special way, under the maternal guidance of Our Lady Mother of the Eucharist, to living out and evangelizing the mystery of Christ in the Most Holy Eucharist by adoring Him and then bringing Him to the people whose lives have been dehumanised by poverty, disease, famine, displacement, and all forms of societal rejections. We bear witness that Jesus is truly present in the Most Holy Eucharist. Hence, we are also known as the “Adorers and Defenders of the Eucharist” (ADE)

OUR APOSTOLATE

Our apostolate is primarily to be a visible sign of Christ’s love to the spiritually and materially dispossessed. We bring the Eucharistic Lord, made incarnate in us, to the dark holes of the poor ñ prisons, hospitals, orphanages, destitute homes, old people’s homes, inner-city slums etc.

As it is in God’s plan, a small number of lay men and women who saw the depth of sincerity and passion in the work of Mrs. Angela Ugwuka began to join in her apostolate of propagation of the mysteries of our faith and the work of charity.
